Choosing a Perfect Gift

Have you ever felt so frustrated when you have to choose a present for your friends or family? I bet you have felt so. Of course, choosing a perfect gift is not an easy task. You have to be in their shoes, imagining what they might like. It is not a big problem if they tell you what they would love to have as a present. If not? You will have to spend a significant amount of time if you want to give them something memorable.

Here is how I choose the gifts.
  1. Set the price range.
People usually forget to decide the price range they can afford first. Of course, the price range is the most important step in choosing a gift. I bet we don't want to fantasize a gift we will never be able to afford. Therefore, first of all, set a price range -- how much you are willing to spend on that gift.
  2. Think of the purpose of your gift.
Why do I want to give him/her a gift? The simple answer will be something like "Because it's his/her birthday" or "I feel like I have to give him/her a present?". Think of an deeper answer. Do you want him/her to put your present near the bed? on the desk? in the car? LOL. This question sounds creepy, huh?
  3. Think of how long you want him/her to keep your present.
Sometimes, you actually need to determine the durability of the present. Some people give flowers for occasions like graduation or promotions. It just depends on you. I just want to remind you that you should also think about how long you want him/her to keep you present.

  4. Find a gift that satisfies all of your prerequisites. Finally, if you know the price range, the purpose and the durability of your gift, I guess it isn't that difficult to find a gift you would like to give him/her.
Of course, it is just a general procedure most people follow when choosing gifts. I hope it helps you if you haven't actually given a thought about the procedure.
